I have a user with an issue I've never seen before. Their display randomly and unpredictably "shrinks to about 75% of the actual screen size and just kind of gets stuck there. Sometimes the image will return to normal, sometimes it flickers back and forth between shrunk and normal then goes back to normal.
This is a laptop connected to a monitor in duplicate mode; when this happens, it occurs on both the laptop and the monitor.
Here's an image that shows what it does (not to scale, threw it together in MS Paint). The resolution isn't changing, the view just shrinks itself down.
What I've tried:
Turning both devices off and back on again
Driver updates (including Intel graphics)
Different monitor
Different video cable
Tried HDMI on the laptop instead of VGA
What I haven't tried:
Voodoo/dark magics
Any ideas of more things to try?
